Cervélo P5: RSTRI RC Extended-Reach Custom Cockpit
A rider-specific cockpit built around the RSTRI RC carbon aerobar and an extra-long CNC-machined custom riser, translating non-standard Reach, Stack and aerobar-angle requirements into the physical front-end structure.
Beyond standard adjustment ranges, design the cockpit around the rider
When standard spacers and adjustment ranges cannot reach the target position, the cockpit should adapt to the rider — not the other way around.
BUILD OVERVIEW
Beyond standard adjustment ranges, design the cockpit around the rider
What makes this Cervélo P5 distinctive is not simply the RSTRI RC aerobar, but the unusually long custom interface positioning it around the rider’s actual cockpit requirements.
Designed by RSTRI and CNC machined for the required geometry, the extended riser provides substantially more forward positioning than a conventional setup.
The question is therefore not simply whether the aerobar can be installed, but whether it can be placed exactly where the rider needs it.
Reach, Stack, aerobar angle, armrest position and hand support work together to determine whether an aerodynamic position can be maintained over time. When standard components cannot reproduce the target geometry, a purpose-built CNC riser can translate those fit requirements into the physical cockpit.

01 / CHALLENGE
Standard components must serve a broad range of riders, so their adjustment ranges inevitably have limits. Bike Fit targets do not.
For riders requiring significantly more Reach, the original interface and conventional spacer options may not place the hand supports at the required coordinates. Compromising Reach to fit available hardware can affect arm support, shoulder position, head position and ultimately the ability to sustain an aerodynamic posture.
02 / SOLUTION
Define the rider’s target cockpit position first, then design the interface around it.
This Cervélo P5 uses an extra-long RSTRI CNC-machined custom riser to connect the original front end to the RSTRI RC and achieve the required forward extension.
For a component with clearly defined interfaces, dimensions and structural requirements, CNC machining provides a precise and mature route to purpose-built customization.
First determine where the rider needs to be. Then design the component that puts them there.
Why an extended CNC custom riser
- Extends beyond conventional Reach ranges.
- Built around rider-specific Reach, Stack and aerobar-angle targets.
- Designed around both the Cervélo P5 interface and RSTRI RC.
- Purpose-built geometry instead of compromise through fixed spacer sizes.

COMPATIBILITY
This is a rider-specific configuration, not a universal recommended length. Confirm the exact P5 interface, target Reach, Stack, aerobar angle, armrest position, cockpit target data and accessory/cable clearance before design.
INSTALLATION
The cockpit is safety-critical. Confirm all custom-component specifications, interfaces, hardware and torque requirements and use professional installation and final inspection.
